Moon Phase Calculator

See the Moon phase and how much of it is lit for today or any date, along with the sign the Moon is moving through. Everything is computed from real astronomy in your browser.

The date defaults to today and the time to noon. The phase is the same worldwide, so a time is optional and only nudges the result slightly.

How this works. The Sun and Moon positions are calculated from real astronomy (the same engine used inside the Alya app), using the tropical zodiac. The phase comes from the angle between them: 0 degrees is a New Moon and 180 degrees is a Full Moon, with the lit fraction following that angle. The date and time you enter are used only in your browser, and nothing is sent anywhere. The Moon phase is global (the same everywhere on Earth at a given moment), while your local clock time shifts it slightly.

For entertainment and reflection. Astrology is a symbolic tradition, not a science. The phase and Moon sign here are grounded in real positions, but their meaning is interpretive and is not medical, psychological, legal or financial advice.
